Public transportation:

1. From Budapest Airport Terminal 2, first you have to go to Terminal 1 by the airport bus (no. 200E or no. 900) (it takes about 7-9 minutes). From there you can travel to Budapest Nyugati Pályaudvar (Western Railway Station) by train directly. The train tickets are available on the platform from the vending machines (about 350 HUF). The train takes 23 minutes to reach Western Railway Station in the centre.

At Western Railway Station you can change directly to a train for the campus, whose train stop is called “Pázmáneum”, in the direction of the city of Esztergom. Tickets are available in the box office at the station (cca. 580 HUF), and it takes about 50 minutes to get there. As there is construction work going on during August, you’ll be transferred to a bus that replaces the train, in Pilisvörösvár on the way to the campus.

Alternatively, once you are at Western Railway Station, or at any metro station of Line 3 of the metro, you can take metro Line 3 to Árpád Híd, where you have a bus station. Buses run from the Árpád Híd Bus Station to the campus too. Tickets for these buses are available from vending machines or from the ticket office in the station building.

2. From Keleti Pályaudvar (Eastern Railway station) you need to take the metro (line 2) in the direction of Déli Pályaudvar (Southern Railway station). You need to change to metro line 3 at Deák Ferenc tér (in the direction of Újpest Központ) and get off at Nyugati Páyaudvar (Western Railway station). You need to buy just one ticket (320 HUF*), and the whole trip takes 20 Minutes.  

3. From Nyugati Pályaudvar (Western Railway Station) you can take the train to the campus Pázmáneum (tickets available in the box office at the station for 550 HUF) in the direction of Esztergom. The travel takes approximately 50 minutes.  As there is construction work going on during August, you’ll be transferred to a bus that replaces the train, in Pilisvörösvár on the way to the campus.

Alternatively, you can take metro Line 3 to Árpád Híd, where you have a bus station. Buses run from the Árpád Híd Bus Station to the campus too. Tickets for these buses are available from vending machines or from the ticket office in the station building.

4. From the Népliget Bus Station you need to take metro Line 3 (in the direction of Újpest Központ) and go till Nyugati Pályaudvar (Western Railway Station). You need to buy a ticket public transportation (320 HUF*), and the metro takes 20 Minutes to get to the railway station.  From Nyugati Pályaudvar (Western Railway Station) you can take the train to the campus Pázmáneum in the direction of the city of Esztergom (tickets available in the box office at the station for 550 HUF). The trip takes approximately 50 minutes. As there is construction work going on during August, you’ll be transferred to a bus that replaces the train, in Pilisvörösvár on the way to the campus.

*Single ticket for public transportation:

Price: 320 HUF

Valid for one uninterrupted trip without change on bus, tram, trolleybus, cogwheel railway services on the whole length of the lines and on HÉV suburban railway within the administrative boundaries of Budapest. During the time of validity you can change lines within the metro and underground network (metro lines 1, 2 or 3). It does not entitle you for interruption of the trip or a return trip. On the metro lines the ticket has to be validated before starting your trip and on other vehicles immediately after boarding or after the vehicle has started. You can use them for 60 minutes after stamping, on the night service for 110 minutes. The ticket has to be presented and handed over for ticket inspector’s request. It is not returnable.

Tickets and passes can be purchased from vending machines at the stops/subway stations, or at the entrance of the subway at most subway stations of lines 2 and 3. Tickets (but not passes) are sold at many (but not all) newsagents kiosks too.

Nyugati Palyaudvar, as well as the other two major railway stations in Budapest, namely Keleti Pályaudvar and Déli Palyaudvar, are all served by a subway line.

For those who prefer the easy (but pricey) way:

If you call your cab by phone, then from the Western Railway Station, Taxi4 takes you to the campus for about 25-30 euros (outside morning and late afternoon peak hours). Főtaxi does the same for 30-35 euros. Taxi4 (again, outside the peak hours) takes you from airport (Terminal 2) directly to the campus for about 40 euros.
